Individual Lessons
I teach privately in person at two local Midcoast Maine schools as well as a limited number of other sites, but prefer to teach via Zoom and can set up an online class, workshop or group coaching session. These can be recorded for later viewing and often include ample handouts and supplemental resources. Please use the CONTACT page on this website to reach me and request more details.

Types of Workshops
Workshops can be customized for your group. The content can depend on your interests, the group's playing ability, and the size of your group. Below is a sampling of workshops I have offered recently.
Because of safety concerns and restrictions caused by the Covid-19 virus, I can not offer in-person workshops at this time. As soon as the State of Maine and CDC guidelines make them feasible, I will offer them. For now, workshops must be online. Zoom workshops have been successful but I can deal with other platforms if necessary.
  1. Style Studies - Diving into a genre such as blues, Roaring 20's, 60's folk, 50's country, etc.)
  2. Chord Changing Tricks Revealed! - All of those handy tricks to make smoother chord changes with ease.
  3. Learning The Fingerboard - How to see the fingerboard and recognize pitches, chord voicings and scales. Locate any chord, note or scale quickly in multiple places.
  4. Basic Music Theory - Music theory applied to ukulele from the most basic level up to learning the chords of the five most common ukulele keys.
  5. Strum Intensive For Intermediates - This workout will have you playing rhythms way beyond what you already do. All the useful strums for pop music, Latin, reggae, etc. A couple of bonus flashy strums are thrown in for good measure!
  6. Fingerstyle Ukulele - From entry level through intermediate to fancy. Simple folk, blues, Travis picking, classical, you name it!
  7. Easy Classical Ukulele - Entry level Bach, Mozart, Carulli, etc. arranged for ukulele. Can be adapted toward more challenging intermediate pieces or advanced concert works.
  8. Hapa Haole Songs - Those lovely songs that sound Hawaiian and are about tropical themes, but were written mostly by New York songwriters on Tin Pan Alley. Everything from On The Beach At Waikiki to Hukilau to Mele Kalikimaka and all the greatest songs from the era. We'll learn the chords, strums and lyrics.

Teaching ukulele skills in festival workshops, like the one pictured here in Belfast, ME, is something I enjoy and look forward to as the pandemic fades into the background.
I can adapt my workshops so they are effective for both large and small groups, like the group on the right.
