Paul Mansell's video review of my latest book:
https://youtu.be/KXe1XeatM1I "In his second collection of Etudes, Jeffrey has managed to compose a graded set of interesting and, in places, challenging pieces that will work brilliantly for beginners to fingerstyle playing, as well as for the more advanced player. Reading and using his excellent notes on each piece will encourage players to explore the dynamics and tone of the instrument in relation to the mood and emotions of each piece. He clearly sets out fingerings for chord shapes that aid the correct fingering and also encourage the idea of holding shapes to allow the instrument to produce a legato feel, filling in harmonies. It will be my pleasure to set the pieces as Grade alternatives in the ever expanding VCM Ukulele Exam syllabus that benefits from the such new works. For a fuller analysis of the book I can heartily recommend this video by Paul Mansell, a VCM diploma holder!" https://youtu.be/KXe1XeatM1I Colin R Tribe-Author of many ukulele books with Schott Publishing and examiner for the Victoria College of Music in London --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I highly recommend Jeffrey Weinberger’s book, Fingerstyle Ukulele Etudes Volume II The pieces span a range of skill levels. these etudes are thoughtfully designed to expand and hone finger style technique. At the same time, each work is a musical gem—Weinberger’s compositions are both beautiful music AND educational treasures. The last pages of the book clearly explain various finger style techniques and how they are notated, and several etudes are prefaced by chord diagrams to prepare the player for reading. The back of the book also has a concise primer on how to read ukulele notation. Fingerstyle Ukulele Etudes Volume II is a beautiful resource to explore various ukulele techniques. I am a musician/educator in Midcoast Maine. I've been at it since I was twelve or so and I continue to derive much joy from this, as well as from my wife, my cats, and my gardens.
I have become especially adept at working with older adults. My experience as director of the Midcoast Ukes helps me recognize and deal effectively with concerns seniors might have with starting a new instrument and playing in a group as well as acquiring, developing, and refining new skills.

I am available to teach workshops in your area, coach your ukulele group at your practice space, and conduct team building activities for corporations and offices. A list of potential workshops appears here.
I have decades of experience working with young students - both individually and in full classes. In addition to the skills needed to play an instrument, I do my best to instill a love of music and the joy of performing. |
